The Story
The nation’s leading job hunt Web site CareerBuilder has created a new division, according to the company.
Personified, which made its debut Jan. 16, is a consulting firm that helps employers understand the relationship between company performance and talent. The business unit is a spin off of CareerBuilder’s Human Capital Consulting Division.
Named to the leadership position of Personified is Mary Delaney. Delaney most recently served as CareerBuilder’s chief sales officer. She founded the company’s Human Capital Consulting Division in 2006. 
Before joining CareerBuilder, Delaney managed its merger with She has held sales management positions at Nestle Corp. and voice mail service company Aysnc Corp. She is currently completing her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
The Research
With more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience, Delaney will lead day-to-day operations at Personified and develop a strategy that will drive revenue for the startup.
Personified will operate independently of sibling CareerBuilder. The site is organized into four key recruitment areas: talent acquisition, employment branding, workforce culture and employee engagement.
The company intends to develop customized solutions for employers to get the highest ROI in people, technology and processes. Personified will use its online resources from CareerBuilder to access talent and employment data.
“Mary’s track record speaks for itself…her deep understanding of the challenges facing hiring managers today are valuable assets as we deliver more integrated talent management solutions through Personified,” CareerBuilder Chief Executive Officer Matt Ferguson said in a statement.
According to The List database, Portland, Ore.-based Wieden + Kennedy handles CareerBuilder’s creative.
According to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, CareerBuilder spent about $50 million on media in 2006. About $27.8 million was spent on network television ads, about $13.8 million was spent on Internet ads and about $4.4 million was spent on cable television ads. 
The Direction
Personified may be a good fit for agencies with B-to-B capabilities. Make an approach for project assignments in helping the company generate awareness for its services. Agencies with public relations experience, or firms with grassroots marketing capabilities may also find below the line assignments as Personified gets off the ground.
