Additional Insight: For sellers – we hear CVS is in the midst of testing ROI for desktop and mobile ads and influencer targeted programs, but loyalty/personalization and not e-commerce is the play here. New Agency:  Backbone Media

Scope of Work: PR AOR

Additional Insight: Backbone will handle PR outreach for the sportswear maker, focusing on building brand recognition. They will also target and engage new audiences as High Sierra debuts new apparel and footwear lines in 2015. Backbone Media founding partner Ian Anderson said: “All of us at Backbone have owned a High Sierra bag at one time … and we're delighted to share that story with even more customers.” Look for higher endemic and lifestyle media buys as High Sierra looks to engage outdoor enthusiasts and the active lifestyle crowd.


Kashi (La Jolla, Calif.)

Opportunity: The “Account in Jeopardy” brand has reportedly launched an ad review for its Kashi and Bear Naked brands

Incumbent: San Francisco-based 

Additional Insight: Kashi, once beloved by the health and wellness crowd, has withered since Kellogg's acquired it in 2000 and seen bigger declines since 2013 when it moved to Kellogg's HQ in Battle Creek, Mich. Finally realizing last year that this customer segment largely wants nothing to do with “big food” brands, Kellogg's is distancing itself from Kashi, moving the brand back to its La Jolla, Calif. headquarters. 


LALA (Dallas)

New Agency: Omnicom's Dieste

Scope of Work: US AOR

Additional Insight: The multicultural agency will handle brand strategy, digital initiatives, creative and media planning duties for the US and US Hispanic markets. While Dieste is currently working on a number of projects for LALA, its first AOR work will break during back-to-school (BTS) in 2015 and will focus on its drinkable yogurt: 


Pernod Ricard (Purchase, N.Y.)

New Agency: Issa PR 

Scope of Work: PR AOR for luxury vodka Absolut Elyx

Additional Insight: Issa will handle PR and strategy through media relations, key partnerships and event management. Issa recently launched the Miami pop-up club, Casa Elyx, for the brand's Art Basel Miami Beach campaign, so the appointment is a continuation and expansion of previous duties. According to Absolut Elyx CEO Jonas Tahlin, Elyx is the company's highest priority, so look for digital and event opportunities throughout the rest of the year.


RAVE Restaurant Group (The Colony, Texas)

New Agency:  MWW Public Relations

Scope of Work: PR AOR

Incumbent: According to The List, Bizcom Associates has handled PR for Pizza Inn since 2010.

Additional Insight: The agency will be responsible for launching a strategic communications campaign aimed at increasing brand awareness. MWW will also manage national media relations strategy, develop thought leadership and provide on-going support for marketing growth and franchisee initiatives. Additional Insight: Sellers – Scotts skews spending towards Q1 and Q2 to spur sales during the spring and beginning of summer, taking full advantage of its sponsorships with 


WellPet (Tewksbury, Mass.)

Opportunity: We hear WellPet and media AOR US Interntional Media have parted ways. We haven't been able to verify this 100% but we wanted to keep you in the loop in case the account is still in play. 

Additional Insight: US International picked up the account in Sept. 2013 after KSL Media's bankruptcy and subsequent closing forced WellPet to look elsewear. Note that Camelle Kent, formerly marketing VP since Oct. 2013, was promoted to chief commercial officer in October, making her responsible for WellPet's marketing, sales and R&D.


Zales (Irving, Texas)

Opportunity: We hear Omnicom's GSD&M, creative and media AOR for Zales since 2010, has lost media planning and buying duties. It appears much of the business may be in-house now, including video. We haven't been able to verify this  shift 100% but we wanted to keep you posted in case the account (creative too?) is still in play.
