Accenture promotes exec to CMO position
Business consultancy Accenture has promoted one of its executives to chief marketing and communications officer, according to B to B magazine.
Roxanne Taylor, formerly Accenture’s director of corporate communications, has been with the company since 1995. She succeeds Jim Murphy, who is leaving the company to focus on his own marketing services firm, Murphy & Co.
Before joining Accenture, Taylor was director of corporate communications for Reuters and has worked in the communications department of Citicorp. She also has marketing experience at Credit Suisse Bank and the Deak-Perera Group.
Taylor earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland.
New York-based Accenture is a management and technology consulting firm. The company has more than 100 offices in 49 countries, and provides expertise in a wide range of industries, including government, high-tech, products and more.
Taylor will have a myriad of responsibilities in her new role at Accenture.
She will primarily oversee the company’s marketing and communications, but will also have oversight in the company’s image and brand development, media relations, advertising, event marketing, thought leadership and internal communications.
Taylor takes the marketing leadership position during a strong period at Accenture; in its third and most recent quarter, the company reported revenue increasing 15 percent, to $5.08 billion.
In July, the company acquired consulting firm George Group, in an effort to expand its ability to help clients through expertise in the Lean Six Sigma process improvement technique, which George Group specializes in.
According to The List database, Accenture has worked with New York-based Y&R for advertising needs since 1998.
According to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, the company spent about $37.4 million on media in 2006. About $13.7 million was spent on national magazine ads, about $8 million on cable television ads and about $6.9 million on outdoor ads.
