Campaign Imminent: BJ's hires new agency to update brand

Opportunity: Reportedly hired East Coast and Ohio sellers should go after these traditional and digital ad dollars now. BJ's maintains a relatively small ad presence, but it has been rising since 2014.
Already, a national TV ad (creative above), BJ''s first since at least June 2014, ran in April on ESPN during "PBA Bowling," iSpot.tv reports. Interesting place for an ad targeting millennial moms. But anyway... look for the new campaign to skew much more towards younger, female household decision makers, especially moms.
Media Spend: Last year, $9.2 million was spent on national TV ads, up 24% from $7.4 million, according to Kantar Media. Last year, print ($4.4 million) made up about half of BJ's ad budget, whereas in 2014 spot TV ($3.5 million) was the dominant spending category. The remainder of BJ's 2015 ad budget went mostly to display and national spot radio ads.
Digital Breakdown: During the past year, banners and high impact ads have run on almost 250 publishers (26% mobile), 99% of which was placed programmatically versus site direct.
Moat reports that three video ads have appeared on four sites: politifact.com, gta5cheats.com, nationalmem.com and diffen.com. All of these ads were run programmatically.
