Social, Sponsorship Opps: Hydro Flask names marketing, e-com VP post-acquisition (Score 78)

Company: Hydro Flask, maker of high-performance, insulated stainless steel flasks. HF was recently acquired by Helen of Troy and is now a part of its housewares segment, which includes OXO, Good Grips, Soft Works, OXO tot and OXO Steel.
Update (3/31): Just last month, Hydro Flask was acquired by Helen of Troy and we told you how this could lead to higher marketing spend (more below). Now, HF has tapped Phyllis Grove as marketing and e-commerce VP.
HF CEO Scott Allan said Grove brings “tremendous” experience and “understands [HF's] audience and knows how to increase global brand awareness and consumer engagement via an integrated strategic approach.” As marketing VP, she will lead all global marketing efforts for HF sales channels.
Grove’s addition to the team raises HF’s score to a 78 in our agency new business predictive platform, placing it in “Account in Jeopardy” status. Sellers and agency readers, you can read more about HF’s marketing plans and you should begin engaging Grove as soon as possible.

Sellers and agency readers should keep in mind that part of the reasoning behind leaving Hydro Flask's headquarters in Bend is to maintain engagement and authenticity with the active outdoor customer segment the company services. Therefore, social media, grassroots and sponsorship/event efforts will still be top-of-mind, at least as the outset of the acquisition.
Currently, Hydro Flask markets in outdoor, natural food, coffee and beer channels, so those who focus on those markets should look for revenue here. More money behind marketing could also trigger agency shifts, although it is likely that Hydro would consolidate with an existing HOT roster agency. Don't let this deter you, however – those with pitches that can strike a balance between small company authenticity and growing brand awareness may just be what the company is looking for in an agency partner.
