Campaign Imminent: National Vision spies AOR for two brands
Subject: digital, media buying and planning, traditional, PR, social media
Company: Eyeglass World, based in Duluth, Ga.
Opportunity: After a review, National Vision has named Richards Group as its new AOR for two of its brands: America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Eyeglass World. Richards will handle PR, digital, media buying and planning, creative and strategy development for both brands. Paul Gross, SVP of marketing for National Vision, said: “Our goal was to find an agency partner who can help us properly position and increase awareness of our two great brands … The Richards Group has shown they are more than capable and prepared to join us.” Therefore, look for digital and traditional ad dollars as the agency begins working on campaigns.
Incumbent: Harmelin had previously handled media buying and planning.
Richards Group: Note that, as of July 15, Richards Group has lost the Chuck E Cheese account (here).
Media Spend: According to Kantar Media, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses spent $30 million on measured media in 2014, while Eyeglass World spent only $7.5 million. Most of the spend for both brands was allocated to broadcast ads, with the remainder being split between print and digital.
According to Moat, Eyeglass World ran standard display ads on three publishers in 2014 – 100% of which were purchased directly. Top ad destinations included: amarillo.com, myfoxlubbock.com and kxly.com.
iSpot.tv reports that America’s Best spent $17.6 million on national TV ads in 2014. The most money was spent to air ads on ABC, NBC, FOX, E! and CW during shows such as “Good Morning America,” ”Today,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “Judge Judy” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” And I’ll be the first to say that only Judy can judge where you choose to air ads.
