Visit Orlando searching for Canadian agency

WinmoEdge has learned that Visit Orlando has issued an RFP searching for a Canadian agency to help with marketing services in Canada.
The 2011 campaign, including broadcast and print advertising, promotions, direct marketing and public relations, is the sixth consecutive year the organization has launched an integrated campaign within Canada.
Visit Orlando reports that Canada is Orlando’s largest international market with 960,000 visitors in 2010. It is forecast to grow to more than one million in 2011.
A portion of Visit Orlando’s funding is also being used to promote the city as a top meetings and conventions destination. According to the organization, Orlando is the second most popular destination for hosting the U.S.’s largest trade shows behind Las Vegas.
According to the RFP, the organization is looking for an agency to develop and executive a comprehensive PR, promotions and advertising program that maximizes exposure of Orlando’s offerings and drives tourist demand from Canada.
Agencies can respond to one or all of the areas, including public relations, promotions and/or advertising media buying.
The contract period is from Jan. 1 2012 through Dec. 31 2012 with a one year renewal. Proposals are due by August 19 to Vice President of Global Marketing Peter Cranis.
Visit Orlando is the official sales and marketing organization for the Orlando and Orange County area. Chartered in 1983, it’s a private nonprofit organization that represents more than 1,450 private businesses.
Visit Orlando’s mission is promoting the area as one of America’s greatest vacation and meeting destination by providing comprehensive information to all travelers.
Orlando-based Push has served as the organization’s global AOR since 2008, according to The List.
Visit Orlando also contracts Dallas-based 22squared Inc. for media buying and planning, since 2003.
Nielsen reported that Visit Orlando allocated almost $7.7 million towards national advertising in 2010, the majority of which – about $4.4 million – was spent on national magazine ads. About $2.2 million was also spent on B-to-B initiatives and another $500,000 was spent on spot radio ads.
