Opportunity: During the Q1 earnings call, Haverty’s CEO Clarence Smith said that the company’s 2016 advertising mix is “a little different.” Currently, Haverty’s is doing more digital advertising and direct mail than usual. Smith explained, however, that the company will continue to be a major TV advertiser, as well.
When asked about promotional activity, Smith said that Haverty’s did not want to be known as a discounter – “We are talking about our brand.” He also said that the company is “more specific” about the values offered, especially in print and TV.
