Hot Diggity Dog: ‘On the Brink' Wienerschnitzel names CMO to lead strategy, loyalty efforts
Update (2/6): Last year, the hot dog chain created the “Visionary Department” (more below), led by JR Galardi. Now, the company has added a CMO to its ranks. Doug Koegeboehn will oversee the department and lead brand, marketing, digital, menu and overall communications strategy efforts. Note that Koegeboehn joins the team from Santa Ana, Calif.-based DGWB Advertising & Communications, Wienerschnitzel’s AOR.
Wienerschnitzel previously scored a 62 in our predictive analysis system, placing it just outside the Vulnerable Account Index: Top 100. Usually, bringing a new CMO on board would cause a company’s score to jump up, but because Wienerschnitzel’s new CMO comes from their AOR, we don’t expect him to evaluate agencies for at least nine months. This isn’t to say that things won’t change, but give Koegeboehn time to catch up with the new department and relish his role before changes take place.

Galardi points out that the intention is not to change Wienerschnitzel's marketing direction, but to bring new customers into the fold.
