Kroger acquires Vitacost.com to expand natural, organic offerings; ramp up digital, e-commerce ef...

Opportunity: Will acquire Vitacost.com in the third quarter to expand into new healthy segments, ramp up omnichannel expansion in online ordering and eventually utilize Vitacost’s e-commerce platform. Kroger has been on the forefront of grocers’ loyalty, digital and personalization evolution, so expect spending in these areas to continue rising.
Expanding Further in Health Segment: Kroger will have access to Vitacost.com’s more than 45,000 products across vitamins, supplements, and various natural and organic foods to complement its own Kroger and Vitacost only had 10,000 products overlap, CFO Mike Schlotman said in a conference call.
