A new Anthem campaign should launch shortly since Affordable Care open enrollment begins Nov. 1. So, sellers should keep going after branding and direct response (DR) dollars targeting small business owners, early retirees and entrepreneurs 25-60-years-old – really anybody who doesn't obtain health insurance through their parents or an employer.

Incumbent: IPG's Deutsch was on both creative and media for several years, according to The List.

Advertising Levels: Anthem spend $313.5 million on marketing and advertising last year, 7% less than it did in 2014 and 11% less than 2013, according to filings with the SEC.

Digital Breakdown: During the last year, Anthem's display presence was highest during the end of year open enrollment period and was mostly desktop ads, Pathmatics reports.

Almost $400,000 was spent on 54.3 million desktop impressions, 76% of which were bought site-direct (see full spend share breakdown right). The Trade Desk was the primary DSP utilized, according to Pathmatics.

Top targeted direct sites have included wikia.com, courier-journal.com, bloomberg.com, nytimes.com, aol.com, politico.com, starwars.wikia.com, fallout.wikia.com and nba.com.

For video, about $140,000 has garnered 7.5 million impressions, half of which were site direct and half flowed through ad network Google AdX + AdSense. Top targeted sites include youtube.com, hulu.com cnn.com, news.yahoo.com, foxnews.com and dailymotion.com. 

Mobile activity has been tiny - only $29,000 for 11.2 million impressions.
