Opportunity: Ticketmaster is looking to retool, and as such, has added four digitally-inclined executives: Joining the company are:Jeff Somers, chief product officer; Kat Frederick, SVP, product strategy; Catherine Martin, VP, communications; and Ismail Elshareef, VP, open platform and innovation. TM’s digital marketing presence has remained flat from 2014 to 2015, but with the introduction of new technologies that enhance the customer experience, larger outlays should be on the horizon.
Experience: Somer joins from eBay, where he served as VP and was responsible for managing the online auction site’s core business unites (motors, fashion, electronics, home & garden, collectibles and deals). Media Spend: According to Kantar Media, Ticketmaster spent $28.6 million on measured media in 2014 – a 71.3% increase over 2013. Ticketmaster’s 2014 spend constitutes 66.8% of parent company Live Nation’s total spend. Almost all – 99.4% – of this spend was allocated to search and display ads in 2014.
According to Moat, Ticketmaster has run 142 standard display ads on 67 publishers so far this year (4% mobile; 57% purchased directly). Top ad destinations include uncoached.com, nesn.com, pro-football-reference.com, seahawks.com and mlive.com.
Ticketmaster’s digital presence has remained level from 2014 to now, with the only real change being the addition of four video ads this year.
