Texas TV, Digital Opps Update: TXU Energy's new media agency only handling offline

Opportunity: TXU, No. 160 in the consumes the most power in the US, meaning awareness and differentiation is crucial.
Note that Mediahub has been on a roll lately. The shop recently picked up Scotts and Royal Caribbean (research here).
Media Spend: TXU spent $19.6 million on measured media last year, up from $11 million annually in 2013 and 2012. About 80% of 2013′s budget was split evenly between TV and online advertising. Most of the remainder, about 7%, went to out-of-home (OOH).
Digital Breakdown: Since January, TXU has run 15 display ads with 319 publishers (<1% mobile), 68% of which was purchased directly with sites versus going through an ad network or exchange. In comparison, in 2014 18 ads ran with only 83 publishers (4% mobile), according to Moat.
This year, the vast majority of desktop display activity is with media, followed by large/local paper publishers like wfaa.com and khou.com. Mobile display is almost non-existent but it looks like TXU ran a test during the last week of March with wfaa.com.
New CMO: After a one-year hiatus from TXU, Seiger returned as CMO last summer. Before re-joining TXU, she was La Quinta's VP of consumer insights, analytics and business intelligence for about one-year. Previously, she was TXU's director of consumer insights, brand management and marketing, where she built the company's consumer insight function and launched the new TXU Energy brand in 2010.
Seiger succeeded Michael Grasso, who became Sunrun's CMO this summer (research here).
