Transocean promotes Marketing SVP after launching search for global PR support

Transocean Ltd., one of the world's largest offshore drilling contractors.
Bonno, with approximately 30 years of industry experience, previously served as VP of marketing.
Her experience includes 17 years with Global Marine Inc. and Applied Drilling Technology Inc., two subsidiaries of GlobalSantaFe Corporation assumed in a 2007 merger.
Mark Monroe has also been promoted to VP of account management, according to World Oil.
He will oversee Transocean’s relationships with key U.S.-based customers from its U.S. headquarters in Houston.
Since 2010, he has served as managing director of marketing, responsible for customer relationships with major customers like BP, Exxon and Chevron.
These promotions come after Transocean began an informal search for global public relations support in June (WinmoEdge article).
Chicago-based AOR Financial Dynamics, a communications agency owned by FTI Consulting, isn’t being affected by the review.
Transocean hired the shop and lobbying firm Capitol Hill Consulting Group early last year during congressional inquiries about the role of its Deepwater Horizon drilling rig in the BP oil spill.
At the time of the tragedy, BP’s United States Chief Executive Officer Lamar McKay blamed Transocean for the explosion on the rig that killed 11 people and led to the disaster.
In the current lawsuit, BP is requesting about $40 billion in damages from Transocean, along with damages from other operating partners it was working with during the explosion.
Transocean and Halliburton quickly responded with cross claims against BP.
With a fleet of 136 mobile offshore drilling units, Transocean is the world’s largest offshore drilling contractor. The company, known for its modern and versatile fleet, also currently has one ultra-deepwater newbuild drillship under construction.
