Campaign Imminent: AB InBev adds Deutsch as lead creative on Busch, Busch Light

Opportunity: Looks like Deutsch as the lead creative for the Busch brands, including Busch and Busch Light. According to Chelsea Phillips, senior director of value brands for AB InBev, Busch and Busch Light "represent two of the top 10 best selling beers in the US. Phillips also added that Deutsch was handed the account without a review. Rather,AB InBev reached out to Deutsch because it was "an agency [the] marketing team has been watching."

Sellers - be on the lookout for a new campaign from the value beer brand (does anyone know if Jeb is busy these days?). TV targeting has been NASCAR-heavy over the last two years, so keep this in mind. TV, digital and out-of-home opportunities should be available as Busch looks to boost awareness and consumption. According to Winmo, WPP's MediaCom has handled Busch's media buying and planning since 2014.

Incumbent: Group360 will continue to work on Busch, according to AB InBev. 72andSunny created the last major campaign for Busch, but has not worked on the account for some time.

AB InBev Roster Changes: Deutsch's appointment comes just after the beer giant appointed Droga5 as creative lead for its Best Damn Root Beer brand (more here).

Digital Breakdown: According to Pathmatics, Busch has spent $182,000 on 42 desktop ads this year, which have garnered 12.9 million impressions. Ad presence began increasing in July and top destinations include (27% of impressions), (21%), (12%) and (6%). Majority of these ads (95%) have been placed site direct, while the remainder are placed through AppNexus, DoubleClick Bid Manager and The Trade Desk.

Busch has also spent $16,600 on 10 mobile ads (1.5 million impressions) and $85,100 on three video ads (4.8 million impressions). 

For the same period 2015, Busch spent $106,000 on 38 desktop ads (32.6 million impressions), $91,000 on 40 mobile ads (46.8 million impressions) and $85,300 on 13 video ads (4.8 million impressions).
