Millennial Media Opps: LA Rams tap new creative agency, launches first branding campaign in new market
Subject: OOH, digital, social media, sponsorship, events
Opportunity: Well, it looks like the Rams knew what they wanted the whole time. After two decades of trying to find themselves (or more fans), the team has returned to LA. In celebration of their homecoming, the team launched its first branding campaign in the market, The campaign was created by Art Machine, who began doing work for the team earlier this year, and was recently given AOR status. In its new role, the agency will help support creative, social content, promotions and media placement for the Rams' inaugural season.
The new campaign, titled "We're Home," initially includes out-of-home ads that feature towering Rams players leaping over LA landmarks, such as the Griffith Park Observatory, and catching passes amid the towering buildings of the downtown skyline.
"We're Home" will also include static and digital billboards, a large-scale painted building, aerial beach advertising and transit wraps on LA Metro train lines, buses and shelters.
Along with the increase in OOH, look for local events and sponsorship to be up as well, as this will be a good way to engage with casual fans. Additionally, once the team has made its initial mark in the city, look for an increase in digital spend as the Rams use tech to engage with fans. Specifically, look for a much heavier focus on social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat.
With that said, sellers in the LA area should reach out now to pick up any last minute revenue tied to the current campaign, and continue seeking ad dollars tied to new marketing efforts moving forward.
In addition to Art Machine handling the organizations creative, it looks like DiGennaro Communications is handling PR.
