Opportunity: Looks like we were on to something back in May. We Ad Age is saying the WPP agency and 3M are done, and a search supported by SRI has begun for a new creative agency to handle at least seven of 3M's biggest consumer brands, including Post-It and Scotch. Hopefully you've been reaching out for awhile now. But, if not, agencies should engage in-house decision makers immediately to see if they can still get on the longlist for creative AND media.

Media isn't mentioned in this Ad Age article; however, it went in-house earlier this year and we've heard MDC's McVoy has already won some pieces of the account (not sure what yet). So, keep pitching for media work since planning and buying for consumer brands could still be in play,  

Sellers - This summer Post-It launched its first new campaign in three years. The "Make It Stick" campaign, Grey's swan song, included TV and video to reach the kids (research here). Post-It wants to (and must for its survival) reach a younger audience, so pitch strategies that will help the brand "stick" with female millennials (because iPhone reminders are lame when you could cover your desk in notes). Center your timing on Q3, specifically back-to-school, when new campaigns are likely to launch for Post-It and Scotch.

Additional Insight

Media Spend: Since last November, Post-It and Scotch spent $4.8 million and $379,258 on national TV ads, respectively, reports. Most of this was spent July-August to run ads on programming including "Today," "Flip or Flop," "House Hunters" and "Property Brothers."

Digital Breakdown: Since last November, about $1.6 million has gone to Post-It and Scotch display ads, 71% of which has supported Post-It. About 62% of Post-It's 51.6 million impressions were bought through DSP TubeMogul, per Pathmatics
