Besides the core Chuck Taylor shoe, look for revenue tied to upcoming and recent launches including Counter Climate Collection. Converse is trying real hard to make itself into a year-round brand, perhaps opening up ad revenue beyond core selling periods, such as back-to-school (BTS). Besides footwear endemic sellers (yes, that's a thing), an edge should go to male-focused entertainment, comedy and music, based on Converse's display targeting strategy the last six months. 

Note that Nike marketing veteran Julien Cahn was appointed Converse CMO this summer, so look for Nike to take a much more prominent in Converse's approach than ever before, instead of treating as a standalone brand as in the past. As such, creative shops and other service providers should go hard after 2017 work. As we always say, a new CMO hire is the top indicator of agency roster shifts.

Additional Insight

Media Spend: $3 million went to measured media last year, down 16% from $3.6 million in 2014, according to Kantar Media.  Most of last year's budget, about $1.2 million, went to out-of-home ads, followed by display ($650K) and Hispanic magazines ($514K).

Digital Breakdown: Since last December, $739,000 has gone to display ads, per Pathmatics. Most of this activity has been video, at $463,000 for 21.8 million impressions. Most of these impressions have been bought direct from sites such as youtube.com, hypebeast.com, funnyordie.com, slamonline.com, collider.com, kicksonfire.com and complex.com.

Also, about $235,000 has garnered 33.2 million desktop impressions, 80% of which have been purchased direct from sites including hypebeast.com, nicekicks.com and gofugyourself.com.
