Rumor - Go Rving to begin 2017 ad campaign planning shortly?

Opportunity: Go RVing typically begins planning for the "Go Away" national campaign in June/early July, but we've received word that 2017 planning will begin this month. Therefore, start engaging in-house and agency contacts now to secure traditional and digital direct response dollars for Q2-Q3, GoRving's top advertising period.

Outdoor, travel and entertainment sellers should have an advantage, but really anyone touting high engagement rates among parents (here) media partnerships as examples of the arrangements decision makers may be most open to forming. 

Creative and media planning and buying has been at The Richards Group since 2002, Winmo reports.                        

Additional Insight

Media Spend: $16.2 million was spent on measured media last year, up 24% from 2014, according to Kantar Media. Budget mainly supported broadcast and magazine ads in 2015. But keep in mind that last year digital jumped to 40% of GoRving's annual media investment. 

TV Breakdown: During the past 12 months, $5.1 million has gone to national TV ads (see breakdown right), down from $21 million over the same prior year period, iSpot.tv reports.

Digital Breakdown: Since August 2015, 75 banners and almost 500 high impact ads have run on 2,200 publishers (<1% mobile), 69% of which were placed programmatically versus site direct. Fifteen video ads have appeared on 231 sites, 55% of which were placed directly, according to Moat.

Desktop has run mostly with news, entertainment and business publishers, led by nationalgeorgraphic.com. Other top sites include gsn.com, outsideonline.com, si.com, discovery.com, history.com and cbssports.com. 

Video has also appeared mainly on news, entertainment and sports sites, led by foxsports.com. Additional top targeted sites include discovery.com, craveonline.com, kmov.com, msn.com, youtube.com.
