Female Engagement Opps: Curated box service Kidpik taps new PR AOR to drive growth
Subject: Social media, PR, online, video
Company: kidpik, headquartered in New York City, is a girl's fashion box that offers curated, coordinated, quality and fashionable selection of outfits for girls sizes 4-14, right to consumers’ doors.
Opportunity: Named 5W Public Relations as PR AOR. In its new role, the shop will be tasked with creating a comprehensive PR program designed to position Kidpik not only as an innovator in the marketplace, but as a premier girl's subscription box retailer.
Keep in mind that as box-based services continue to increase in popularity, especially those delivering children's apparel, what sets Kidpik is that it is the first and only girl's custom-styled fashion box. With children's apparel currently making up a $150 billion market, the girls-only approach will create a niche positioning for the company as an industry front-runner in children's fashion and subscription services.
The new shop joins the company at a pivotal time, as it recently announced the release of its fall 2016 boxes, and last week, debuted the first digital kid's fashion show through a Facebook livestream in NYC. The intention of the digital show was to drive awareness of the brand and increase engagement on its Facebook page and other social media sites. As a new business, the company has relied heavily on social media to foster engagement among its growing consumer base. In fact, according to digital marketing and advertising index Stylophane, the company has increased social media significantly since launching earlier this year, and is in the Top 20 for growth among all retailers on Facebook.
With that said, focus your pitch on social media and other event/sponsorship strategies that will engage girls (ages 3-13) and their parents (moms especially). As the company continues to grow, expect digital, online and video efforts to eventually work their way into the mix. With fall underway, focus your pitch more on the upcoming holiday and spring boxes. Female-focused fashion, parenting and lifestyle sellers should have an advantage here.
Incumbent: Child’s Play Communications reportedly handled the account since January 2016.
